THE STUDIO

My Philosophy

I believe every student deserves personalized instruction because there is no "one size fits all" curriculum. Since efficiency is paramount (work smart and not hard as they say), it's my duty to be clear about directions and be with you step by step and change methods if one isn't working. Lessons with me are short and to the point; 45 minutes with free buffer time extending to the hour.

Though optional, I recommend that students learn another instrument (or if they already have, to play in an extracurricular ensemble that plays under a conductor whether that be a band, orchestra, or choir).

Learning Materials

Students will have access to my library of sheet music and handouts that include lists of techniques, performance strategies, exercises, and other resources.

The use of lesson books will be kept to a minimum (if intermediate or advanced).

The purchase of lesson books are the responsibility of the student or parent.

Other materials:

-Folder x3 (one each for repertoire, theory, cheat sheets)

-Erasable colored pencils

-Metronome (available as a free app)

-Digital tablet *if opting for paperless* (iPad 12.9 in. recommended)

-An instrument to practice on!

In-Home or Online Lessons

For a travel fee of $15, I can drive to your home to teach.

Online lessons are also available by Zoom (45 minute cutoff) or FaceTime (no limit).
